Beneath Cà Tang Peak lies Quế Trung village (Nông Sơn, Quảng Nam), a serene haven beside the flowing Thu Bon River. The riverbanks are enriched with fertile alluvium during the seasons, captivating visitors with the enchanting fruit orchards.
Explore Quảng Nam: Serenity beneath Cà Tang Peak

In the midst of summer, I returned to Quế Trung seeking quiet respite after months in the bustling city, immersed in the crossroads between youth and maturity as the fruit trees undergo their seasonal transformation between lushness and maturity. Every home garden sways with ripe pomelos on the branches.
Following the garden along the river reveals endless banana groves and jackfruit trees heavy with fruit. More intriguing are the durian trees now entering their fruit-bearing season.
Rarely does any place in the Central region successfully cultivate these distinctive fruit-bearing trees, reminiscent of the Mekong Delta. However, the villages beneath Cà Tang Peak predominantly grow them. The durians here are abundant, and their flavor is more palatable than those from the inland areas.
In the early light, taking a stroll around the house and garden brings a sense of tranquility. Looking up at the Cà Tang peak in front, the mountains rise gently through the soft white veil of mild mist. The mist blankets the mountain top, and the breath of the rocks gradually blends into the brightening sky.
Venturing out beyond the garden leads to the edge of the Thu Bon River flowing naturally. The sun, with its first gentle glow of the day, casts reflections on the river and the silver peaks of the mountains. The river seems to be adorned with a thin layer of crystal above.

The silver glow of the sun on the mountain mist resembles a beautiful painting from afar. The painting includes the river, the radiance of the sky, the mountains, the lingering mist, and the trees on both banks. I often contemplate this serene painting until the golden sunlight invites me back indoors.
A gentle and affectionate joy is watching the grandchildren play in the rain. The children run in the rain, their laughter echoing louder as the raindrops become heavier, evoking childhood memories. These memories touch the present, fostering a deep affection for the land and the people here.
And, the heart also whispers that time passes too quickly.
At times, desiring even more tranquility, my spouse and I invite each other to climb to the summit of Cà Tang. From there, casting our eyes downward, the entire Thu Bon River, Quế Trung village, and the emerging town of Trung Phước all shrink into miniature views.
Every picturesque scene exudes a serene beauty, especially when gazing towards the river. The boats, either ferrying passengers or transporting goods upstream, slowly reveal themselves. From above, the water splits into two, and the boat's prow moves steadily. The sight captivates me, and I find myself staring for hours on end.

As evening approaches, smoke rises lazily from the kitchens of riverside shanties. The smoke blends with the green bamboo dust, sometimes gently drifting towards the river, merging with the evening river waves that are also lazily rising.
Below the Cà Tang summit, if one seeks an adventurous tourist spot, it won't be found. However, for those yearning for moments of light-heartedness, relaxation, temporarily leaving behind the weariness of daily urban life, this is an ideal place.
Scattered in the garden or along the streets, the figures of women, mothers, and sisters carrying baskets on their backs with bananas and jackfruits sway towards the market. In the neighborhood, people are ready to invite you to a friendly meal with river fish, garden vegetables, or home-raised chickens.
Then, by a sip of wine, you might hear the elders narrate enchanting stories about ancient hunting expeditions or lively theater days resonating across the entire region.
Below the Cà Tang summit, a place where a part of my soul always wants to return, enveloped in affection, in the gentle spreading of delightful joys.
