Finally, Pokemon GO players can start transferring all their favorite companions to the latest 'main' game, Pokemon Sword and Shield. To achieve that, users need to follow a few steps and require an intermediary app, namely Pokemon HOME.
Pokemon HOME is a service that enables players to transfer Pokemon from their Pokemon GO accounts to Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield on the Nintendo Switch. Currently, this feature is only available for Pokemon trainers at level 37 and above. This article below provides detailed information on how to transfer Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Pokemon Home.

How to Transfer Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Pokemon Home
For Pokemon trainers looking to bring Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Sword, Shield, or any game other than Let's GO Eevee/Pikachu, they must first download the Pokemon Home app for their mobile device. By using the mobile version of the app, players can receive Pokemon from Pokemon GO and then decide to send them to other games as desired.
Apart from downloading the Pokemon Home app and linking it to the correct Nintendo account, there aren't many settings directly related to Pokemon Home. However, players should note that even though it's available on Switch, Pokemon Home only allows trainers to receive Pokemon sent from Pokemon Go on its mobile version. Pokemon must be received on the mobile device and can then be transferred/adjusted using the Pokemon Home version of their choice.

After successfully installing Pokemon Home, players need to ensure that the Pokemon GO app is updated to the latest version. This means version 0.191.2 for Android users and 1.157.2 for iPhone users. If using the latest version of Pokemon Go, players can link their Pokemon Home account with the following steps:
- Open Settings from the main menu.
- Scroll down and select Pokemon Home.
- Link the Nintendo account used by the desired Pokemon Home account.
After successfully linking your Nintendo account, Pokemon trainers navigate to the Pokemon Home menu in Settings and tap the Send Pokemon button. This allows you to send any Pokemon to Pokemon Home using the GO Transporter and something called 'GO Transporter Energy.'
GO Transporter Energy replenishes automatically over time, albeit quite slowly. Players can use PokeCoins to instantly recharge Transporter Energy, but it comes at a steep price—around 270 PokeCoins to fill 1/4 of the energy bar. Each Pokemon transferred to Pokemon Home will consume the player's GO Transporter Energy, with the amount of energy required varying based on the rarity of the Pokemon.
As shown in the image above, standard Pokemon incur a negligible transfer fee, while Legendary Pokemon consume a substantial amount of Transporter Energy. Shiny Pokemon carry a fee equivalent to Legendary Pokemon, so players should pay attention to the number of Shiny Pokemon and Legendary Pokemon they want to send. Of course, you can still transfer Pokemon for free; all you need is patience and time.
Additionally, players can also receive Legendary Pokemon with Pokemon Home. Check out the guide on how to receive Legendary Pokemon with Pokemon HOME here to learn more.
