With today's popular applications, the issue of consuming computer RAM during operation has become widespread among users. Even the Google Chrome web browser is a factor that slows down your computer or laptop because Google Chrome consumes a significant amount of RAM, prompting many to choose alternative web browsers for surfing the web.
Are you looking to boost your computer's performance but unsure which method to choose? With just a USB, you can enhance your system's speed. Follow the article below to learn how.
Transforming USB into RAM for your computer
Preparation:
- USB with a minimum of 256MB free capacity (USB may contain other data).
For Windows Vista/7/8/10
Step 1: Plug the USB into the computer
The AutoPlay dialog box appears; then, click on the “Speed up my system” section.
If your USB doesn't run AutoPlay, do the following: In My Computer, right-click on the
Here, select the ReadyBoost tab and you'll see the “maximum USB space available” section.
Step 2: Setting up ReadyBoost feature
At Position 1: Click on “Use this device”.
At Position 2: Set the capacity you want to convert into RAM (this depends on the free capacity of the USB). Here, I choose 1024MB (1GB).
Finally, click OK, and Windows will begin setting up the ReadyBoost feature.
To check if the ReadyBoost feature is active, open USB in My Computer. If you see a Readyboost file (with a capacity equal to the one you set earlier), then the ReadyBoost feature is activated.

At Position 2: Check “Use this device for caching”.
After the setup, when you open the USB, you will see the EBOOSTR file.
During program usage, the interface will look like the one below, with an icon in the system tray.
By converting USB into RAM, you can boost your computer's speed without incurring hardware upgrade costs. Additionally, you can install and use RAM optimization software to enhance your system's speed.
When using a computer, ensuring stable RAM operation is crucial to prevent slow system performance or freezes. You may need to free up RAM when numerous programs are running simultaneously, causing the RAM to be insufficient to support all of them. In such cases, closing unnecessary running programs can free up computer RAM, helping the computer run faster.
