Starting from August 1, 2023, the Immigration Management Bureau has implemented the Autogate system at the airports of Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, and at the airports of Da Nang, Cam Ranh, and Phu Quoc from August 15, 2023.
Travelers can now complete immigration procedures automatically at the airport.

In the immediate future, the Ministry of Public Security will deploy the Autogate (automatic immigration gate) system at 5 airports including Noi Bai, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Tan Son Nhat, and Phu Quoc. This is the first time this technology has been implemented extensively at airports nationwide. In the initial deployment phase, the Immigration Management Bureau has issued announcements regarding the eligible users and conditions for using Autogate as follows:
1. For Vietnamese citizens:
All Vietnamese citizens can use Autogate for immigration. Vietnamese citizens using passports without electronic chips need to successfully register to use Autogate before immigration. Vietnamese citizens using passports with electronic chips will not need to register.

During the initial phase, Vietnamese citizens using Autogate for emigration must meet one of the following conditions: using diplomatic or official passports; using ABTC cards; Vietnamese citizens who are members of flight crews using Autogate to perform crew duties. Vietnamese citizens meeting the above conditions must register to use Autogate.
2. For foreigners:
Foreigners holding temporary residence cards or permanent residence cards issued by the competent authorities of Vietnam can register to use Autogate for emigration. Foreigners falling under the aforementioned category must register to use Autogate.

3. After the initial phase expected to be implemented within 02 years, the Ministry of Public Security will further explore expanding the range of passengers permitted to use the Autogate automatic control gates for entry and exit, and the locations for registering to use Autogate as prescribed by law.
