Unlike many other messaging and video calling platforms, you can only register a Viber account using a phone number. After entering the required phone number, Viber will send a confirmation code to that number for you to activate your account. The account activation process is straightforward and fast, but some users still encounter issues such as not receiving the Viber confirmation code despite following the instructions on the app screen. In this article, Mytour will help you troubleshoot that Viber error in the simplest and most effective way.
Resolving Viber's Activation Code Sending Issue
1. Check your phone number.
2. Check your mobile network.
3. Enable data roaming.
4. Opt to receive Viber activation code via call.
5. Restart your phone.
6. Try at a different time.
Fixing Viber's Failure to Send Confirmation Code, Activation Code
1. Check your phone number
The most common reason users encounter Viber's failure to receive confirmation code is entering the wrong phone number. Ensure the following:
- Enter the correct and complete number.
- Select the correct country code from the available list.
- Enter a phone number without 0. For example, with the phone number 0123456789, you enter from 1 onwards.
- You cannot use VoIP numbers to activate/register Viber.
2. Check your mobile network
Because the Viber activation code is sent via message to your phone number, if you are in an area with weak phone signal, you may not receive the activation code.
3. Enable data roaming
When traveling abroad, you'll need to enable data roaming to receive SMS (you can disable this feature immediately after receiving the code).
To enable data roaming on iPhone, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Settings and select Cellular, then enable Cellular Data.
Step 2: Below Cellular Data, choose Cellular Data Options and enable Data Roaming.
To enable data roaming on Android, do the following:
Step 1: Open Settings and select Connections.
Step 2: Next, press Mobile networks and toggle Data roaming.
Note: The steps to enable/disable data roaming may vary on different Android phone models. In this example, Mytour uses Samsung Galaxy S10.
4. Opt to receive Viber activation code via call
If you've tried the above measures but still don't receive Viber's confirmation code via text, you can opt to receive the Viber activation code via call.
After 1 minute without entering the confirmation code, Viber will provide the option to resend the message and activate the call, click to choose to receive the activation code via call.
5. Restart your phone
Resetting your phone is the most commonly used method. With this method, the apps will be restarted from scratch then access the Viber app and resend the code.
6. Try at a different time
- For the network provider: Due to peak hours, there are many users accessing, leading to system overload, so you may not receive messages.
- For the Viber application: Because the Viber server is located abroad, sending messages to your phone number may encounter issues.
Therefore, you can try again at a different time to fix the Viber activation failure.
