You receive a video call on Skype, but upon clicking the Join ongoing call button, the dialogue window disappears automatically after a few seconds, and you hear no sound from the participants. 1. Use Skype on Mobile Devices
Skype is a cross-platform messaging and video calling application, available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. Therefore, when encountering difficulties joining group video calls on Skype for desktop platforms, the first solution to consider is using the mobile version of Skype. All contacts and messages on Skype are synchronized across devices. Hence, you can easily join calls with your team directly from your mobile device without the need for complex procedures or extensive processing. You can also log in to Skype for web to initiate and join calls.

2. Check Network Connection
Weak or unstable network connection can also be the reason why you can't join video calls on Skype. If you see normal network signals but still can't join Skype meetings, you may need to run network troubleshooting. Before doing so, try accessing other websites to see if it's successful. If you're still facing similar issues, then perhaps the network is the problem.
To troubleshoot network issues in Windows 10, follow these instructions:
Step 1: Connect via Ethernet/Wifi.
Step 2: Click on the Start button or press the Windows key and select Settings.
Step 3: Click on Network & Internet.
Step 4: Click on Status and in the Find a setting field, type Network troubleshooter, then select Find and fix network problems.

3. Update to the latest version of Skype on your computer
If your computer runs Windows 10, you might be using the pre-installed version of Skype. Although convenient as you don't have to download and install it, this version isn't organized properly like the desktop version of Skype and is known to cause a range of unforeseen issues.
Some users have been able to restore Skype's normal functionality by avoiding the use of the pre-installed version and instead downloading the desktop version. To download the latest version of Skype for your computer, visit the Skype website and click on Get Skype for Windows. Click on the arrow next to that button, and you'll have additional options.

Once the setup file is downloaded, open it and follow the on-screen instructions to install the desktop version of Skype on your system.
4. Ask the host to add you to their contacts
This particular issue may also be related to a specific privacy setting of the host of the group call. To check this, see if the person conducting the group call has added you to their contact list. If you're not in their contact list, request them to manually add you and invite you back to the online meeting. They can easily do this by clicking on Contacts > New Contact. Then search for your name, phone number, or email and press Add.
5. Initiate the call as the host
If method number 4 doesn't help you join the call, try acting as the host of the video call and see if you can initiate the call. Some have reported that even though they couldn't join a group call, they could speak to multiple people by creating their own call group.
