Prominent British TV host faces backlash after declaring she will only date someone who earns more money than her, and criticizes a monthly salary of £4,000 (approximately $5,000) as inadequate.
Michelle Bingley, hailing from Leicester, England, hosts the show Grilling on Standout TV. Recently, she shared her views on dating with guest Margs - a social media influencer.
When Margs asked if earning £50,000 - £60,000 (1.5 - 1.8 billion VND) per year is okay, Michelle bluntly replied: 'That's not much.'
She explained: 'If I marry a man, he needs to have a fairly high income. I want to be provided for if I need it.'
Margs argued that a £4,000 (almost 120 million VND) per month salary is quite decent, but Michelle stated that the amount may be enough for her expenses alone, but not sufficient to live on if she has children.
'Imagine if I have a child and I can't work. Without income, how would I survive? So I need to find a man with a much higher income than me,' expressed Michelle.

When Standout.TV shared a clip, it sparked debates on social media.
Some agree with Michelle's viewpoint that it's essential to date someone with an income suitable for her lifestyle: 'I agree with her that £4,000 per month is not enough for a couple and definitely not sufficient if you want to have more children'; 'Living in an expensive city like in the UK, that income cannot cover expenses comfortably'...
However, many criticize Michelle, stating that the income expectation is unrealistic for many people, and she has idealized the income demands from her partner.
'Even if you earn a salary of £100,000 (almost 3 billion VND) per year, you only take home £5,000 (150 million VND) per month after taxes. Financial expectations today are too high; social media has truly distorted people's reality'; 'Wanting others to work to provide for you is overly idealistic'... these are the critical comments against the female MC.
