After updating the Tweetstorm hiding feature, Twitter launches the new Happening Now feature to emphasize special events for users to pay attention to daily occurrences. Primarily focusing on sports events, Twitter states that this feature will expand to other fields in the near future. Potential topics could include news, award ceremonies, and more.
Twitter debuts the Happening Now feature, bringing attention to special events.
In the example below, when you tap on an ongoing event in the Happening Now section, you will see score information displayed at the top, followed by the data source of other tweets related to a similar event.
“You can spot the event showcased at the top of your timeline tagged as Happening Now. When available, we'll display events and topics we think you might find interesting when you open the Twitter app on iOS or Android devices. Tap the icon to see why we think you'd be interested in the event or hide it from your timeline. Tap the image to view the conversation around the event.”
The Happening Now feature is now available on the Twitter app for iOS and Android.

Twitter introduces the innovative Happening Now feature to spotlight special events.
While it may sound like Happening Now is somewhat similar to Twitter Moments, these features are entirely different. Clearly, Moments is a curated collection of tweets that generally narrate a story from start to finish. Happening Now is simply a data source of other related tweets, all connected to the same event.
In addition, Twitter is also experimenting with and developing a new 'save for later' feature. This feature helps users find a tweet more easily and saves time if they want to retrieve a tweet later.
