(The Motherland) - Recent moves by Ubisoft have left quite a few gamers feeling let down.
Just recently, Ubisoft has disappointed many by announcing the delay of their highly anticipated project, Skull and Bones, in the early 2023 phase. Despite an incredibly impressive introduction, bringing many expectations to players, this isn't the first time Skull and Bones has missed its appointment with gamers. The game was initially planned in 2018 but has been postponed several times. At that time, Ubisoft believed that Skull and Bones still had much room for improvement.

However, in their recent announcement regarding the halt of this project, Ubisoft admits to facing many difficulties. Specifically, the company shares that the global gaming industry is gradually shifting towards developing large, long-standing game franchises that can reach players worldwide, a direction Ubisoft itself is pursuing with series like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and The Division. However, projects since Ubisoft changed its strategy have continued to postpone their release dates, while those that have been released have not met expectations.

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO, has also spoken out about this reality. He even pointed out that their two most recent disappointing projects, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance, are performing very poorly. According to Yves, Ubisoft has halted the development of three undisclosed projects. It's worth noting that earlier, the company also canceled four other games in development, including Ghost Recon Frontline and Splinter Cell VR. Within a year, Ubisoft has shut down 7 of its games.

The situation becomes more noteworthy for Ubisoft as their recent projects, deemed blockbusters, are increasingly causing significant disappointment. The remake of The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time still lacks a release date despite being the most anticipated game. Meanwhile, Ghost Recon Frontline, a highly anticipated combat masterpiece expected to rival Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends, has been shut down despite over a year of development prior.
