Ubuntu 18.10 is the next Ubuntu Linux release, expected to land later this autumn. Although it's a short-term support release, only supported for 9 months, Ubuntu 18.10 will feature the latest GNU/Linux technologies and future open-source software applications.
Ubuntu 18.10 Daily Build ISO is now available for download.
Canonical has decided to switch to using GNOME by default. Therefore, users can expect Ubuntu 18.10 to come with GNOME 3.30, which is scheduled to be released on 9/6. The first point release of GNOME 3.30.1 is expected to be released on 9/26. Ubuntu 18.10 is scheduled to land in October, and it's likely to integrate this release.
Ubuntu 18.10 will also integrate the latest Linux kernel series, possibly Linux 5.0, which has been long awaited. Additionally, other components will be updated in the latest version. Furthermore, the user interface will not undergo any major changes in this release.

As this is the first Daily Build, don't expect major changes. The Ubuntu 18.10 Daily Build includes most features found in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. The Ubuntu development team only updates the toolchain to kickstart the development of Ubuntu 18.10, with the code name starting with 'Cosmic'.
Also, note that these are early development versions, so avoid installing this version on computers you use daily. The Daily Build is only for early adopters and developers who want to test applications on the upcoming Ubuntu release.
