Breaking away from trends like bunny ears or protruding cameras, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 features a truly distinctive sliding mechanism.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 introduces a completely revamped design compared to the Mi MIX series. Unlike its predecessors and most recent flagships, Xiaomi takes a completely different approach to achieve a fully bezel-less design on the front. Mi MIX 3 implements a magnetic sliding design to conceal the front camera, speaker, and sensors.
With this unique design, Mi MIX 3 achieves a record-breaking screen-to-body ratio of 93.4%. The sliding mechanism on the Mi MIX 3 is robust, akin to traditional phones with sliding fronts.
The Mi MIX 3 box exudes a sophisticated black color with yellow MIX lettering placed prominently in the center.

Mi MIX 3 features a 6.39-inch AMOLED display, Full HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels), and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. This screen boasts a contrast ratio of 60000:1, brightness of 600nits, 103.8% NTSC color gamut, and occupies a remarkable 93.4% of the front panel.

When slid up, the screen section of Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 reveals the front camera module, including sensors, a dual 24MP + 2MP camera setup, and an LED flash. The sliding mechanism is robust, with deliberate and smooth movement. Xiaomi refers to this magnetic sliding mechanism as the Magnetic Slider, distinguishing it from the automatic sliding mechanism on the Oppo Find X.

The sliding maneuver, employing a sturdy magnetic mechanism, introduces a deliberate delay – a departure from the automatic sliding method seen in the Oppo Find X.
Beyond liberating space at the top edge, the manual sliding design on Mi MIX 3 presents users with an entirely novel usage experience. To elaborate, you can slide to answer calls, capture selfie moments, or swiftly access favorite apps and any other applications. This sliding cover also serves to promptly launch Gaming Shortcut while gaming, facilitating actions like messaging, screen recording, and more – incredibly convenient.
By default, when sliding down the screen, the selfie camera mode is immediately activated, but you can also customize this function in the settings.
There is a small gap between the screen and the body of the device, but it's not overly noticeable.
The front camera module includes a main sensor, the Sony IMX576 24MP, providing high-resolution photos during the day and Super Pixel photos with a pixel size of 1.8µm at night. The secondary sensor is used for depth measurement and has a resolution of 2MP. Xiaomi also emphasizes the 24MP resolution on the main sensor with a label in the top right corner.

Meanwhile, the rear camera module remains a dual lens setup positioned vertically on the device's body, both with a resolution of 12MP. The main sensor is the Sony IMX363 with an f/1.8 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size, and Dual Pixel autofocus capability. The other camera utilizes the Samsung S5K3M3+ sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and 1.0µm pixel size.
This camera setup is also equipped with 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS), bokeh effect, 2x optical zoom, and 960fps slow-motion video recording. Similar to the Mi MIX 2S, the Mi MIX 3 camera integrates AI for automatic scene recognition to optimize photos.

Despite its sliding design, the Mi MIX 3 remains remarkably slim, featuring a curved glass back instead of the previous square design.
The back is curved on both sides, departing from the squared look of the Mi MIX 2s.
The bottom edge includes a USB Type-C port, external speaker, and microphone. Interestingly, the speaker grille is symmetrically placed on both sides, creating a well-balanced design, unlike its predecessor, the Mi MIX 2s.
The bottom is more balanced compared to its predecessor. Mi MIX 3 has also ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack, replacing it with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter included in the box.
Mi MIX 3 comes in three color options: Black, Green, and Blue. The device offers four configuration choices with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage.
