Turns out, the creator of the anime Oshi No Ko is a fervent fan of Chainsaw Man.
Both Chainsaw Man and Oshi No Ko stand out as exceptional anime/manga with captivating plots and eye-catching character designs. However, these two works have experienced different ranking results. While Oshi no Ko quickly rose to become the number 1 anime on MyAnimeList after its first episode, Chainsaw Man's ranking continues to decline.
Furthermore, Chainsaw Man is struggling with Blu-ray DVD sales figures, while Oshi no Ko had a promising start and proudly holds the title of the most-watched anime in the opening rankings of Spring 2023.
Despite these differences, it turns out that both Chainsaw Man and Oshi No Ko have a surprisingly deep connection. Specifically, the author of Oshi no Ko holds a profound admiration for Chainsaw Man. This admiration even extends to Chainsaw Man being referenced within Oshi no Ko itself.
Yokoyari Mengo has yearned to become a manga artist since childhood, even dropping out of high school to pursue her dream. Alongside Oshi no Ko, notable projects by her include Scum's Wish, Cigarette Anthology, and Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou.
Recently, her love for Chainsaw Man has become increasingly evident, as Mengo-sensei has incorporated her fondness for Chainsaw Man into her own work.
On August 30, 2020, the official Twitter account of 'Oshi no Ko' posted a tweet. The content was about the illustrator of Oshi no Ko informing fans that she would temporarily pause Twitter due to emotional impact from reading recent chapters of Chainsaw Man.
This announcement was accompanied by a fanart of Power (a character in Chainsaw Man) drawn by Mengo-sensei herself. It can be affirmed that Mengo-sensei's feelings for Chainsaw Man are truly profound.
