Noodle squash grown by Ms. Luong Thi Yen Van in Xuan Tho commune, Da Lat city, Lam Dong province, is causing a sensation on social media.
Rare noodle squash in Da Lat
It is known that the noodle squash in Da Lat is cultivated at the Cooperative Garden of Dalat, Xuan Thanh hamlet, Xuan Tho commune, Da Lat city, with the squash variety imported from Japan and experimented about 4 years ago.


Due to being grown organically, noodle squash when freshly cut can be boiled after a thorough wash. Then, a fresh squash when sliced open. The flesh of the squash is white with a hint of light yellow and visible veins running around the fruit instead of a powdery texture like common squash varieties.

When boiled in boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, the flesh will yield long strands resembling noodles, with a mild sweetness, crispness, and delicious aroma. These elongated squash strands are very unique and can be eaten directly or mixed in salads, or with sauce. Currently, the price of noodle squash is around 120,000 - 150,000 VND per fruit depending on the size. In the near future, Ms. Yen and her fellow farmers plan to increase the cultivation area of noodle squash by 10 times to meet market demand.
