Photoshop, a professional photo editing software on computers, is beloved by many photography enthusiasts. However, it often encounters freezing or crashing issues during usage. These unexpected Photoshop crashes can disrupt your editing workflow significantly. Fear not! This article will guide you through effective troubleshooting methods.
1. Boost Photoshop's RAM Allocation
Step 1: Open Photoshop > Go to Edit > Select Preferences > Click Performance.

Step 2: Here, increase the amount of RAM used by Photoshop by dragging the slider or entering a value in the “Let Photoshop Use” box. Click Ok to save changes, then restart Photoshop.

2. Clean Up Photoshop's Cache Memory
Photoshop's Cache memory stores options data such as Undo, Clipboard, History. Clearing Cache data will free up RAM for Photoshop. To clear Cache memory, open Photoshop > Edit > Purge > All.

3. Divide Tasks when Working in Photoshop
If you're working on a large project with dozens or hundreds of layers, consider dividing your work into smaller parts. Splitting layers for processing or grouping them together, or flattening them, helps reduce file size. Avoid unnecessary layer shuffling to maintain Photoshop's performance and optimize your workflow.

4. Delete Photoshop's Temp Files
Step 1: Use the shortcut Windows + R to open the Run window. Then type %temp% to access all Temp files on your computer.

Step 2: Here, delete the Photoshop temp files. If you're unsure which files are Photoshop temp files, you can delete all files here. Since these are temporary files, it won't have much impact. However, it will help Photoshop run smoother by freeing up memory and sometimes resolving sudden crashes.

5. Additional Tips
- In the Scratch Disk section, avoid selecting more than 4 drives
- Check Image > Mode to ensure it's set to RGB and 8 bit
