While the Freeform Mode feature is designed for tablets, it can also be activated and experienced on any Android Nougat device. Unlocking Freeform Mode on Android Nugat requires your device to be rooted. However, you can achieve this without rooting your Android Nougat device by using an app called Taskbar.

Unlocking Freeform Mode on Android Nougat
Step 1: Firstly, activate Developer Options by opening the Settings app => About Phone.
Next, tap on Build Number continuously 7 times until you see a notification on the screen confirming that you've activated the developer options.
Step 2: Go back to Settings, scroll down to find the Developer options section. Now, your task is to enable the Force activities to be resizable option located at the bottom.
Step 3: Next, download Taskbar from the Google Play Store to your device and install it: Download Taskbar
Open the app and grant the necessary permissions when prompted.
Step 5: Delete recent apps and restart your device.
Step 6: Press the Overview button, then press the Floating button. You will see all the apps on your device. Select any app, and it will launch in Freeform Mode.
Step 7: Select the Floating button to open the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th apps. All these apps will run in windows similar to a computer.
These are all the steps to unlock Freeform Mode on Android Nougat. Apps running in this mode have larger screens. You can drag the windows around and place them anywhere you want.
On these windows, there are 2 buttons - full screen and close window. Press the full-screen button to switch to Freeform mode.
