In July, a smart hotel in Nagasaki (Japan) will open with a robot receptionist, room auctions, facial recognition room doors,... reported by Huanqiu.

Guest rooms utilize facial recognition systems, so all you need is your face to enter, no key necessary. Besides the reception area, robots will also be stationed in other areas such as luggage handling, room cleaning...
This hotel is also known as the “Unusual Hotel”. With robots handling many guest services, the hotel expects to reduce labor costs by 1/3 to 1/4 compared to using traditional staff. The hotel owner stated that the goal of this hotel concept is to ensure both efficiency and service quality, with plans to open approximately 1,000 of these hotels worldwide in the future.
Room prices are determined through an auction system. For example, during low tourist seasons, the expected price range for a single room is around 55 – 112 USD. Guests can decide the price they want to pay within this range, however, if another guest bids higher, they will be given priority for room usage.
After completing phase 1, approximately 72 guest rooms will start serving guests from July 15th this year. The guest rooms in this phase do not have air conditioning. The temperature will be adjusted using a radiation system around the room walls. Phase 2, also with 72 guest rooms, will be completed in February 2016.
