Getting to Nusa Penida Island

To reach Nusa Penida, an island off the coast of Bali, you'll need to catch a boat from the main island. High-speed boats depart from Sanur Beach and will get you to Nusa Penida in under an hour. The ticket price for the high-speed boat is approximately IDR 150,000 (245,000 VND) and operates hourly from 7 am to 4 pm.
Ferry tickets are included when you book a Nusa Penida tour on Mytour!
Mytour Pro Tip:
Note that ferries departing from Sanur Beach do not use a pier. This means you'll need to wade through shallow water to board the boat. We recommend wearing shorts and ensuring your belongings are safely stored in your backpack!
Getting around Nusa Penida
There are two ways to get around Nusa Penida – by scooter and by car.
Many opt to rent scooters to explore the island at their own pace. However, we advise against this as the roads are rough and navigating them without prior experience can be challenging.
Mytour Pro Tip:
If you plan to rent a scooter, download offline maps beforehand to help you navigate when internet connection is unavailable.

For those traveling in pairs or groups, we recommend exploring Nusa Penida through Mytour tours. The unpaved roads here are rugged with numerous potholes and minimal to no signage. With the intense heat, enjoy the comfort of air conditioning while riding in a car with your own driver.
Book your Nusa Penida tour on Mytour and enjoy a leisurely day on the island! With round-trip transfers from your hotel, two-way boat rides, and a local driver taking you to all the sights, you can relax and soak in the beauty of this stunning island!

Highlights of Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida Snorkeling

One of the must-do activities in Nusa Penida is snorkeling! With crystal-clear waters, you'd miss out on a whole world of marine life if you don't dive in. For some travelers who may not have a diving permit to swim down to the ocean floor, snorkeling is a great option as many marine species swim close to the surface. Even if you're a novice swimmer, don't worry! You can still experience the wonders of the ocean with the help of a life jacket!
Here are some ideal diving spots:
1. Underwater Buddha – Pemuteran Temple Garden
The Underwater Buddha is certainly a sight to behold! These Buddha statues were actually placed there by local artists: Captain Paul M Turley and Chris Brown 10 years ago. The largest Buddha statue stands 2.5 meters tall with smaller Buddhas alongside. The water flow near the statue is quite strong so if you're not a proficient swimmer, we recommend wearing a life jacket!
2. Manta Point
Have you ever swum alongside a giant manta ray? Don't worry, mantas are completely harmless to humans as they have no stingers and no venomous spines in their bodies.
At Manta Bay, depending on the season, you can spot anywhere from 1-10 manta rays at once! Swimming with these gentle giants is definitely an experience you absolutely must try!
If you're lucky (or extremely lucky), you might even encounter creatures like dolphins! We spotted a pod of dolphins leaping out of the water and immediately tossed off our masks and jumped in to chase them.
3. Crystal Bay
Crystal Bay isn't called that for nothing, the crystal-clear water here is perfect for novice divers who want to spot tropical fish but are wary of strong currents. Because the water near the coast is relatively shallow, you don't have to dive deep to encounter fish!
4. Nusa Penida Broken Beach – Pasih Uug Beach

Named Broken Beach due to a massive archway in the middle of the cliffs, this beach is an unmissable sight on your Nusa Penida visit! From the cliffs, look down below and if the tide is low, you might spot some fish swimming! Walk across the natural stone bridge and watch the waves crash forcefully against the rocks, creating foamy surges through the turquoise water.
5. Angel’s Billabong

Angel's Billabong is just a short walk from Broken Beach and these two attractions should definitely be visited together. You can walk to the edge of the cliffs and because the water is so clear, you might even see colorful corals and abundant marine life here!

If you visit on a low tide day, you might even swim in the pool at Angel's Billabong. Swimming near the edge of the pool will make you feel like you're swimming in nature's infinity pool! Please note that tides can suddenly rise and waves can crash against the cliffs quite strongly so on high tide days, it's recommended not to swim in this pool as you may get swept out to sea.

P.S: If you're brave enough, climb one of the trees near the cliffs to get a stunning aerial view of the beach, perfect for your 'Instagrammable' photos!
6. Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach is perhaps the most famous spot in Nusa Penida so it's likely to appear in most photos when you search about Nusa Penida! With its stunning cliffs and waters, you might even spot some small fish below! You have two options – climb to the top of the cliffs or hike down to the beach!
Mytour Pro Tip:
Remember to wear shoes with good grip as there are no clear walking paths or any handrails to hold onto, the path down to the beach is very slippery!

There's also a secret tree at the top of Kelingking Beach that will help you get a million-liked photo as well as capture the breathtaking scenery of the beach! Be careful while climbing the tree as there's no safety net below, you might very well fall down there!
