Overview of Japanese Visa Application
The basic Japanese visa application documents typically include:
- A passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
- Complete the visa application form with accurate information and sign it.
- Provide 2 passport photos sized 4.5 x 4.5 cm with a white background, taken within the last 6 months.
- Personal documents: Notarized photocopies of ID card/ID, household registration book, marriage/divorce certificate (if applicable). For children under 18, a certified copy of the birth certificate is required.
- Proof of assets: Ownership rights for properties, land, vehicles, real estate.
- Financial proof: Confirmation of balance, savings account statement, bank account statements.
- Employment verification: Labor contract, leave application, latest 6-month salary statement or payroll.
- Detailed itinerary of the trip: dates, times; places to visit; hotel addresses, accommodations; modes of transportation; round-trip flight tickets.

Applying for a Japanese visa for visiting relatives
Documents for the invitee
Personal identification
- Visa application form (assisted by Mytour);
- Original passport with at least 6 months validity;
- 2 passport-sized photos (4.5cm × 4.5cm) with white background taken within the last 6 months;
- Copy of household registration book; if the household registration book has been withdrawn, provide confirmation of residence information form CT07 or temporary residence confirmation CT08;
- Copy of marriage certificate (if applicable);
- Copy of birth certificate (if accompanying children).

- Retirement: retirement card or photocopy of retirement decision.
- Officials, employees: original leave request letter + photocopy of labor contract + latest 3-month salary statement or confirmation of salary for the last 3 months if paid in cash.
- Business owners, traders: business license + latest tax payment receipt for the nearest month.
- Students: student ID card photo or school confirmation letter.
Financial proof
- In case of financial sponsorship by relatives
- Original documents of the sponsor:
- Sponsorship letter;
- Income proof (income certificate, tax declaration...).
If there is no income proof, provide the latest 6-month bank transaction statement.
- In case of self-funding
- Confirmation of minimum balance of 100,000,000 VND;
- Bank account statements with round figures from the company, bank (if available).

- Group photo.
Family Relationship
- Information about family members in Japan:
- Residence card photograph (if residing outside Japan);
- Photographs of all Japanese visa pages of the inviter (if residing outside Japan);
- Passport photo;
- Evidence of close relationship with relatives in Japan.
- Birth certificate;
- Marriage certificate;
- Japanese citizenship certificate;

- Original passport with at least 6 months remaining validity.
- Complete and sign page 2 of the Japanese visa application form.
- 1 passport photo sized 4.5cm × 4.5cm with a white background, taken within the last 6 months.
- Household registration photo or confirmation of residence form CT07, CT08.
- Photograph of the final destination visa or documents proving entry permission to that country.
- Photograph of airplane ticket displaying transit information in Japan.
- Itinerary (template file) (if planning sightseeing, tourism during transit).
- Hotel reservation (if staying overnight in Japan).

- Original passport with at least 6 months remaining validity.
- 1 passport photo sized 4.5cm × 4.5cm with a white background, taken within the last 6 months.
- National ID card, household registration photo or confirmation of residence information.
- Photograph of marriage certificate (if available).
- Photograph of birth certificate (if accompanying children).
– Sign your name on page 2 of the visa application form found at https://www.mofa.go.jp/files/000124525.pd.
Evidence of Occupation
– Retiree: photocopy of retirement card or retirement decision.
– Student: photocopy of student ID card or school confirmation letter.
– Employee: original leave request letter, photocopy of employment contract.
– Business Owner: business license, latest monthly tax receipt.
– Other documents demonstrating the nature of your work.
Financial Proof
– Original balance confirmation based on savings account or bank account (at least 120,000,000 VND). Bank statements for the last 3 months (if available).
– Photocopy of property ownership certificate, land use rights certificate, or rental contract for house, land, car (if available).
– Hotel reservation according to the travel itinerary (supported by Mytour).
– Travel itinerary and accommodation (supported by Mytour).

- Upon receiving complete documentation, Mytour will submit to the Consulate General of Japan within 3 business days. From the time of submitting complete documentation, the Consulate General will provide results within 7 business days.
- In case supplementary documents are requested by the Consulate General after submission, the entire documentation will be returned. When resubmitting complete documents, the processing time will start afresh as for a new application.
- The final visa decision rests with the Consulate General.
