By default, Facebook Messenger hides messages from strangers outside your friends' list. These messages find their refuge in Messager Requests until you unveil their content.
Revealing Concealed Messages on Facebook's Messenger

2. Mobile.
Guide to checking pending messages on Messenger
1. On the website interface
Step 1: Open your browser and log in to Facebook as usual.
Step 2: Left-click on the Messenger icon at the top right corner of the screen.
2. On the mobile app
Step 1: Open the Messenger app and log in to your Facebook account.
Step 2: Tap on the Profile icon at the top left corner of the screen.
Step 3: Select Pending Messages.
The system will instantly take you to the storage area for pending messages, as illustrated below.
As mentioned earlier, pending messages are initiated by strangers who message you before both parties have become friends. If the person sends a message while you're not online, you won't receive a Facebook notification. Instead, the message will be moved to the Messenger Requests section. This is a trick for viewing hidden Facebook Messenger messages that many have been curious about for a long time.
While messages are in this section, the sender won't see the read status. You'll receive regular notifications when you Accept the chat or reply to the message without necessarily becoming Facebook friends.
