Understanding Minesweeper Basics
Grasp the fundamentals of Minesweeper. Each game of Minesweeper kicks off with a grid of mystery squares. Upon selecting a square, some vanish, some remain untouched, and some unveil numeric clues. Your task? Decipher the hints to determine which squares conceal mines and which are safe to uncover.

Acquiring Minesweeper

Input store into the Start menu. This action triggers a search for the Store app on your computer.
Access the Microsoft StoreMicrosoft Store
Tap on the 'Search' bar. Locate it at the top-right corner of the Microsoft Store window.
Search for Minesweeper. Enter microsoft minesweeper into the 'Search' bar, then patiently wait for a drop-down menu to emerge below the bar.
Tap on Microsoft Minesweeper. Look for it below the search bar within the drop-down menu.
Hit Get. This is a blue button positioned beneath the title 'Microsoft Minesweeper.' By clicking it, you'll initiate the installation process for Minesweeper on your device.
Starting Minesweeper

Choose a difficulty level. At the top-left corner of the screen, initiate your first game by selecting one of the following difficulty options:
- Easy 9x9 - A grid of nine-by-nine with 10 mines.
- Medium 16x16 - A grid of sixteen-by-sixteen with 40 mines.
- Expert 30x16 - A grid of thirty-by-sixteen with 99 mines.
- Custom - Adjust your game settings, such as grid size and number of mines, according to your preferences.
Explore the tutorial if you wish. For your initial experience in Microsoft Minesweeper, you'll have the option to engage in a tutorial that will guide you through the fundamentals of Minesweeper.
- If you prefer to skip the tutorial, simply click on Skip located at the top of the window.
Left-click any square on the grid. This action will initiate the Minesweeper game.
Examine the numbers. Each number displayed on the board indicates the number of mines adjacent to that particular square.
Use right-click to mark squares suspected of containing mines. Placing a flag on a square indicates your suspicion of it containing a mine. Begin by flagging squares that must contain mines, like a lone square next to a '1' on the board, to facilitate the elimination process later on.
- Ensure that the number of flagged squares does not exceed the number of mines on the board.
Employ double-right-click on uncertain squares. This action will place a question mark on the square, signifying that you wish to postpone making a decision until you've eliminated other possibilities.
- This strategy is prudent for boards where you have identified all but a couple of mines.
Left-click on squares without mines. This action will reveal the contents of those squares.
Aim for a clear board. Winning at Minesweeper requires you to uncover every square without a mine underneath. Once achieved, the game concludes.
- If you mistakenly click on a square with a mine, the game ends. You'll then have the choice to start anew or retry the current game.
