For many years, iOS has seen little change in usability, and the notification system remains unchanged. However, this doesn't mean users aren't anticipating changes in new versions.
Meanwhile, Apple also makes the mobile operating system available to developers to propose specific feature additions for future updates before they are released to all users.
A prime example to mention is the iOS 12 concept, proposing a new way to handle notifications on iPhone, grouping all popup windows by app rather than in chronological order as currently.
The lock screen on iOS 12 is redesigned
Designers indicate that redesigning the lock screen could bring about various benefits beyond improving usability.
Hiding or obscuring message content on the iPhone lock screen is something you should do if you don't want your information exposed when someone else is nearby every time a message comes in. If you don't know how to hide it, you can refer to how to hide message content on iPhone here.
'Combining notifications from a single app together means your brain doesn't have to work as hard scrolling through notifications on the device. For example, in the case of 4 messages sent from 2 different users, it would take up more space and be less efficient than grouping into 1 single notification for each sender once the user scrolls through the notifications,' explained the designer.
If this idea is accepted, users could easily delete notifications by swiping left and choosing the quick reply option for supported apps, such as iMessage and WhatsApp.
Furthermore, designers also intend to refurbish the lock screen with a smaller clock icon and move it to the upper left corner, while the upper right corner will include an additional weather widget similar to those on Android devices.

Although the likelihood of implementing these changes in future iOS updates is very low. However, in reality, concepts like these serve as a precursor, as Apple may better understand how the company's mobile operating system can be more effectively improved.
