Last week, residents of Dong Anh commune, Dong Son district (Thanh Hoa), are still in shock over the simultaneous occurrence where 75 individuals, including about 30 students, suffered burns due to a campfire. The incident was described by locals at the commune's central stadium, where the campfire blazed fiercely, prompting thousands of residents to rush onto the streets, shouting for help and providing immediate aid to the victims.

Around 30 students were burned due to the campfire.
Initially, locals speculated that an unknown young man deliberately poured gasoline into the campfire, intending to harm everyone in the group. However, it turned out to be mere hearsay without any evidence.

The flames raged fiercely.
After investigation, Deputy Chairman of Dong Son District People's Committee, Nguyen Dinh Thong, revealed that the cause was due to the negligence of a young man in the organizing committee who accidentally poured gasoline while setting up the fire. Specifically, pouring gasoline onto the wet sand ground of the stadium facilitated its absorption and spread, resulting in the fierce and widespread blaze. Authorities confirmed that the young man's action was entirely unintentional, and he himself was injured after pouring gasoline into the fire.
In an interview with Dr. Phung Duc Toan, Head of the Department of Comprehensive Planning at Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital, Dr. Phung Duc Toan provided information that the hospital received 31 patients from the campfire incident.

Through this incident, families need to equip themselves with knowledge of first aid for burns in young children to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer vacation for the little ones:
- The first step when a child is burned is to cool the burn by running cool water over it for about 15 minutes. Absolutely avoid using ice water or cold water from the refrigerator.
- Cover the burn with sterile gauze or clean cloth.
- Immediately after administering first aid, take the child to the nearest medical facility.
- Absolutely avoid using toothpaste or ointments not recommended by a doctor on the wound. Improper first aid can worsen the severity of the burn, complicating treatment.
