Files in RAR and ZIP formats are compressed data, aiming to reduce size and enhance security. Users often compress data for online sharing or email transmission. When downloading files from the internet, encountering RAR or ZIP formats is inevitable. To use these compressed files, we need to go through the extraction process. To unzip files, first, install WinRAR or 7-Zip on your computer. You can download these software solutions from the following link:

Download and double-click the file to initiate the installation process. The installation steps are straightforward, just click 'Next' to proceed.
1. Extracting Files with WinRar
To unzip using WinRar, right-click on the compressed file, then choose one of the three options:
Extract files: Unleash the power of multiple choices.
Extract Here: Unzip directly in the current folder.
Extract to “file name”: Extract to a folder with the same name as the compressed file.
If you choose Extract files… a new window appears with options as shown below. You can select the destination folder by navigating the folder tree on the right.
Usually, we opt for Extract Here or Extract to… to minimize steps. However, it's advisable to choose Extract to “file name” to have files extracted into a folder with the same name as the compressed file (as shown below). This way, you won't have to search for the extracted files.
2. Extracting Files with 7-ZIP
To unzip files with 7-Zip, right-click on the compressed file, select 7-Zip, and then choose one of the three options: Extract files, Extract Here, Extract to “file name”
These three options mirror those of WinRar. When selecting Extract files…, the 7-Zip options window appears, allowing you to choose the destination folder and other preferences.
