Microsoft is preparing to launch the Office suite for Windows tablets, a plan that has been in the works for quite some time. It is expected that this product line will be introduced in 2015 alongside the Windows 10 operating system.
According to CEO Steve Ballmer: Microsoft has been planning the development of the Office product for Windows tablets in the Metro style for over 3 years now. The Metro style features a touch interface with Live Tiles, similar to the Windows 8 version.
Tailored Version of Office for Windows Tablets will have features suitable for touch-enabled devices such as touchscreen laptops, tablets, etc., providing an easy experience on Windows tablets. It also shares similarities with Office 2013, Office 2010, Office 2007, and Office 2003 for PCs.
According to the plan, the Office product with a touch interface will be launched for Windows first and then for iPad. However, Steve Ballmer's successor, Satya Nadella, disrupted the sequence by releasing the Office suite for iPad in March 2014. The Office version for Windows tablets is scheduled to follow afterward, promising Windows users a range of exciting experiences.
