Nowadays, in public places like airports and cafes, people frequently leave USB chargers for us to charge our mobile devices. However, if that charger is altered to have the capability of extracting personal data from our devices, it can pose a serious danger.
To address this situation, security and hardware expert Stephen A. Ridley has introduced the 'USB Shield.' Essentially, it is an intermediary circuit board attached to the microUSB port on the phone before we plug in the charging cable.
It functions to interrupt data transmission channels and only permits power transmission channels to operate. Consequently, all attempts to steal data are unsuccessful, while our devices continue to charge as usual.
Currently, the 'USB Protection Condom' has not yet made its presence in the Vietnamese market. Hopefully, this product will soon be available at an affordable price.
