The Apple News app was launched when iOS 9 was released in the United States. However, a recent report reveals that many users who installed the app in the US and traveled to China found that the app no longer functions in the country.
According to The New York Times, Apple has decided to disable the News app in China. Consequently, users in China will see a screen displaying a list of curated articles based on their preferences, rather than receiving an error message saying, 'Unable to refresh at this time. News is not supported in this region.'
Apple has yet to make any official comments regarding this report. If true, it seems Apple is doing this to avoid dealing with China's censorship issues.
The Apple News reading feature on iOS 9 makes it easier for users to access news. With numerous integrated news sources, users can utilize this app instead of using a browser to access and follow new stories. However, users in Vietnam can still activate and use Apple News to stay updated with news provided by Apple.
