Instagram currently provides an option for users to share Stories on Facebook. If you have enabled Share to Facebook Story, Instagram will automatically post that Story on your Facebook. Currently, the company is experimenting with the possibility of allowing users to view Instagram Stories directly from the Facebook app.
The feature to view Instagram Stories from the Facebook app will be launched soon.

Determine whether you're viewing a Facebook or Instagram Story based on the color surrounding the profile picture. Facebook Stories have a blue circle, while Instagram Stories feature a pink/orange circle similar to the main app. It's worth noting that those on Facebook who don't follow you on Instagram won't see your Story.
To activate this feature, users must link their Facebook and Instagram accounts, choosing to participate in this experience. This feature is expected to apply all existing security settings, allowing Instagram users to choose not to share their Stories on Facebook if desired. The feature is currently in testing, discovered by @ec, and later confirmed by @MattNavarra along with Facebook's tech communications director.
This move is another step forward in Facebook's effort to bring their platforms closer together. Last month, Facebook began merging Facebook Messenger with Instagram chat, and eventually, WhatsApp will also become part of this unified chat experience.
