Using Apple Watch as a vlog self-recording display
If you're using the iPhone and Watch combo, you can make use of it for self-photography or filming when there's no one around to assist. This feature is particularly handy for vloggers to self-record, utilizing the watch screen for live viewing during the recording process.
Using the Watch as a live view display has long been available but few people pay attention to it and make use of it for photography and filming. From the main menu, you select the camera icon, when you tap on it, the iPhone screen will immediately activate the camera mode while the Watch becomes the live view display. In photo mode, you can set a 3-second timer, with many options in the menu like switching between front/rear cameras, turning flash on/off, Live Photo, or HDR. This feature is great for selfies or taking photos without bothering others.
However, for video recording, you'll have to select the video mode on the iPhone as the Watch doesn't support switching between different shooting modes. When switching to video, the capture button turns into a red record button and moves to the left side, meaning you can record while capturing photos. There are no options in the menu, meaning the Watch is simply a live view display and a start/stop recording button.During recording, the Watch screen will turn off after a few minutes to save battery even though the video recording is still ongoing, you simply need to press a button to reactivate this screen. I find it very useful for those who often self-record or vlog at home, while traveling... Using the front camera, you have the iPhone screen to observe, but with lower quality, so this is a solution to increase video quality with the rear camera and monitor what's happening: the scene, composition, your position in the frame...Attaching the Watch to the iPhone is as easy as wearing it on your wrist, if you're out and about or filming while on the move, remember to secure it tightly, firmly attaching it to the iPhone to avoid it falling off.
