Using EVKey is similar to Unikey. However, having Unikey doesn't render EVKey unnecessary. Exploring a new tool like EVKey will unveil its numerous benefits and added features, ensuring its suitability for users.
If your computer already has Unikey installed, don't hesitate to add EVKey as well. This tool is packaged for immediate use, much like certain versions of Unikey that can run directly without installation. EVKey, a product based on Unikey by an independent developer, encourages users to report errors to the provided email address for bug fixes and updates, ensuring users have the most refined version of EVKey.
Using EVKey: Typing Vietnamese on Your Computer
- Download EVKey here for your computer.
Step 1: Prior to using EVKey, remember to disable other Vietnamese typing software such as Vietkey, Vietnamese input method, or Unikey to avoid conflicts and errors during EVKey usage.
Step 2: Next, proceed to extract the EVKey software you've downloaded onto your computer. Once extraction is complete, you can start using EVKey right away.
Step 4: Immediately, we will see the interface of EVKey on the computer. The interface of EVKey is much clearer than Unikey, with functions allocated into different tabs.
- Control Panel: This section allows us to set up character tables (such as Unicode), or typing styles like Telex, VNI, which are very popular with those who have used Unikey before.
In the basic control panel, we have the following functions:
- Correct oà uý marks: This feature allows fixing accent order errors when typing in Vietnamese.
- Free accent placement: Enables applying accents to any character, used in combination with the above feature.
- Enable spell check: Allows checking for misspelled words in the text.
- Automatically restore keys with wrong words: When you type a wrong word, it will be automatically rearranged. This feature still has many drawbacks when used.
- Fix suggestion box accents: Some browsers provide suggestions when your typing is incorrect, this feature will help you correct it and it's only available on EVKey.
- Enable shorthand typing: This feature is exactly like shorthand typing on Unikey, allowing users to enter words to type shorthand.
Step 5: Next, we move on to the shortcut keys section, where it's simply shortcut keys that allow you to quickly use a specific function according to your preference.
Step 6: The third part is the system section, where you can edit features related to EVKey and the computer, similar to Unikey where we can choose between English or Vietnamese interfaces.
- Use Clipboard to send keys: This is the feature of using copy clipboard to copy quickly.
- Start with Windows: If you use this, you have to turn it off on Unikey to avoid conflicts.
- Show dialog when starting: Display the full EVKey menu every time you start your computer.
- Vietnamese Interface: Use Vietnamese or English interface.
- Run with admin rights: Use EVKey with the highest rights on the computer.
- Notification sounds: Turn notification sounds on or off on the computer.
Additionally, there's a feature called app exclusion, which allows you to exclude using EVKey on designated applications.
Your task is simply to add any application to this list.
Select any application on your computer, it could be one or more.
When adding an application to the list, you cannot use EVKey to type Vietnamese.
Step 7: It's worth noting that you can find EVKey on your computer in a similar location to previous software like Unikey and Vietkey.
Above is the basic usage of EVKey to help you understand more about the features that EVKey software has. Although it's a version developed based on the open-source code of Unikey, EVKey has superior features and solves many issues that Unikey cannot address.
