(Motherland) - G2 made their own path difficult at Worlds 2023 after suffering a complete defeat against NRG.
Prior to the match on October 28th, G2 Esports was seen as a strong contender to secure a spot in the Quarterfinals.
However, G2 entered the match against NRG with shockingly low form across most positions.
After this defeat, G2's Twitter page (now referred to as X) posted a defense with the message: “We just want to meet Gen.G again.”
Of course, in order to face Gen.G again, G2 must first surpass the Swiss round. However, G2 will have to face a strong opponent named BLG in the upcoming deciding match if they want to secure a spot in the Quarterfinals.
Fundamentally, G2 has made things difficult for themselves by suffering a comprehensive defeat against NRG in the recent match. Losing to a representative from a region with a lot of 'karma' like LCS will surely have a significant impact on the G2 players. If they continue to perform poorly like they did against NRG, then it's not surprising at all if G2 gets eliminated after the Swiss round concludes.
