Google Maps is one of the premier navigation apps globally. However, it typically requires an internet connection. But can you use Google Maps without one? Yes, you can still use it. In this article, Software Tricks will guide you on how to use Google Maps when offline.

Option 1: Using Directions on Google Maps
Saving directions on Google Maps allows you to access specific routes (previously set by you). If you want to save an entire city map, switch to Option 2.
Step 1: Begin by entering your desired destination in the search bar and select Directions to view route guidance.

Step 2: Next, select the 3-dot icon and choose Add route to Home Screen.

Step 3: Immediately after, a navigation icon will appear on your phone's Home Screen. You can tap this navigation icon to utilize Google when offline.

Note: Perform these actions while your device is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, etc. Once you've added Route to Home Screen, you can turn off your network and use it normally.
Method 2. Using a city area map on Google Maps
With this method, you can utilize Google Maps offline to view an entire city area, or even the whole city.
Step 1: Press the Settings icon on the toolbar and select Offline maps.

Step 2: Next, choose Your own map to create an Offline map. Then, move to the area or location you want to map Offline (you can move and zoom in/ out) and press Download.

Step 3: Finally, we will have a map of the selected city. Now, you can tap to view the map when offline.
After creating the map, you can drag, zoom in, and zoom out on each location area for easy observation and tracking.

Note: Within 1 month, it is recommended to update Downloaded maps once. If you don't update, it will expire within the pre-announced timeframe.
If you want to add new maps for offline use, select Your own map. Google Maps currently does not limit the number of downloaded maps, so feel free to create as many as you need for convenience.
