Initially, iCloud was focused on Apple's iOS and iPadOS platforms, but as user numbers grew, it expanded to include Windows support. In this article, Software Tips will guide you on quickly syncing Windows data with iCloud.
1. Downloading and Signing into iCloud on Windows
Step 1: Visit the Download iCloud page for Windows and click on the Download section to acquire it via the Microsoft Store.

Step 2: Next, select the Get option to add it to Windows.

Step 3: Once the software installation is complete, open iCloud on your computer and sign in with your desired account.

Step 4: Apple will prompt you to confirm your two-factor authentication code, which will be sent to the phone associated with your iCloud account.

Step 5: After the sign-in process is complete, Apple will request permission to collect usage data. Choose Don’t Send to opt out of data collection.

If you agree to data collection, select Automatically Send.
Step 6: During the initial setup, you'll need to choose which content to sync between your Windows computer and phone. Typically, people only use Photos and iCloud Drive, so you can skip the other services.

2. Utilizing iCloud on Windows
Once the installation is complete, you can immediately use iCloud on your Windows computer. Here are the specific steps:
Step 1: Open This PC/ My Computer to check the iCloud folder in the toolbar.

For iCloud, the system will include iCloud Drive for storing data like a regular folder, and iCloud Photos will store and sync all the photos from your phone to the computer.
Step 2: When opening for the first time, you'll need to wait for the system to sync, which takes 3-5 minutes (depending on data size and network speed).

Step 3: With iCloud Drive, it works similarly to Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. You can add all files and documents here for cloud storage and sync across multiple computers.

Step 4: Returning to iCloud Photos, you can directly add photos from your computer to your phone by dragging and dropping them into iCloud Photos.

Step 5: To view photos synced to iCloud on your phone, simply open the photo app and scroll down for automatic synchronization.

Step 6: To retrieve photos from iCloud to your computer, simply copy and paste them to the desired location. Photos stored on the computer will display a green checkmark, while those stored in the cloud will show a cloud icon.
