RetroArch is a multi-platform gaming interface that allows you to play old games on your PC. In this article, Mytour will guide you on installing RetroArch to enjoy your childhood favorites!
1. Installing RetroArch on Your PC
RetroArch is a software that combines various electronic gaming systems, such as Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Genesis. The software also offers numerous customizations to tailor your gaming experience.
Step 1: Visit this website to download RetroArch. Click on Download Stable.
Step 2: Run the downloaded .exe file to install RetroArch. The installation steps are straightforward, just keep clicking Next.
Step 3: Once the software is installed, open RetroArch. In the main menu, select Load Core.
Step 4: Click on Download a Core to download a new Core.
Step 5: Scroll through the list to find the core – gaming platform you desire, typically Nintendo – NES / Famicom.
Step 6: Return to the main Menu and select Load Content.
Step 7: Locate the folder containing the game you downloaded from the internet, then select the ROM file (or ISO) of the game.
➣ If you're unsure where to download ROM files for old games, search Google: “game name + ROM download”.
The game has been successfully added to RetroArch and you can start playing immediately.
Step 8: To save your game, navigate to Command > Save State Options and select Save State.
To resume a saved game, select Load State.
2. Setting up the controller
If you have a PS4 or Xbox One controller, connect it to Retro Arch for a better gaming experience.
Step 1: In the main Menu, select Settings >> Input.
Step 2: Scroll down and choose Port 1 Controls.
Step 3: Customize the control buttons to suit your controller. Click on the output feature, then press the button on your controller to assign it.
After customization, you're ready to play games with your PS4 or Xbox controller.
