2. Log in to Get Started
To utilize GoToMeeting for hosting meetings, log in with your GoToMeeting username (email address) and password.
- Click on Sign in now and enter your organization's information, then commence the meeting.
- Note that participants do not need to log in to join the meeting (except for password-protected meetings).
3. Set up audio
When joining a meeting for the first time, you will be prompted to choose the audio method you prefer for listening to the meeting.
- Select Computer audio to use your computer's microphone and speakers.
- Choose Phone call to use your phone to dial into the audio conference.
Once in the meeting, you'll see audio controls in the Audio tab. You can switch between audio modes at any time.
4. Mute/unmute audio
Control your audio using the Audio button located at the top of the Control Panel or the Grab
You can also switch between Computer audio and Phone call if needed by opening the Audio panel in the Control Panel.
5. Manage members
The Attendee list displays all meeting participants and grants you access to GoToMeeting controls. Click on the arrow icon next to a participant's name to see all options, including:
- Mute the audio.
- Elevate them to the position of Presenter or Co-organizer.
- Allow them control over the keyboard and mouse.
6. Invite others to join
All participants need to join the meeting is the Join URL and a 9-character Meeting ID. You can quickly view and copy these into the clipboard in the following locations:
- On the Attendees panel, click Invite at the bottom right. This will open the Invite People window, where you can copy the URL or create an invitation email.
- Click on the Meeting ID below the Control Panel. This will open a dropdown menu with various options to send information to participants.

7. Share your webcam
You can start and stop sharing your camera using the Webcam icon in the Viewer or Control Panel. From the More icon (three dots), you can filter the displayed webcams.
8. Share your screen
You can share your entire screen or even a specific application with participants in the meeting. Use the Screen button in the Viewer or Control Panel to quickly start and stop sharing your screen.
9. Chat with others
The Control Panel includes the Chat section, where you can exchange messages with others. Message notifications will appear if the Control Panel is minimized into the Grab tab. Use the To menu to select the recipient:
- Choose Everyone to send public messages to all members.
- Choose Organizer(s) to send messages only to organizers and co-organizers.
- Select a specific individual to send private messages to that person.
10. Record the meeting
GoToMeeting allows you to record meetings, capturing both audio and visuals, and convert them into a shareable format. This enables easy sharing of past meetings with others.
- Click on Record this meeting below the Control Panel to initiate recording.
- After the meeting concludes, the Recording Manager will prompt you to convert the recording.
11. Minimize the Grab tab
To save valuable screen space, you can minimize the Control Panel into a small Grab tab that will automatically 'stick' to the side of the screen. Use the arrow icon to shrink or expand the Control Panel.
- Easily access the Audio, Screen, and Webcam buttons.
- Receive notifications for new chat messages.
- Click on the Attendees or Chat icons to simply expand those panels.
12. Explore other tools
The GoToMeeting menu provides additional features and tools for you to use during meetings, including audio checks, saving chat logs, and configuring your app options.
To access the dropdown menu, click on GoToMeeting at the top of the Control Panel, and then you can:
- Edit your name and email.
- Change the display language.
- Configure options.
