Starting from April 1st, 2023, Vincom Center for Contemporary Arts (VCCA) in collaboration with Young Artists Club - Vietnam Fine Arts Association introduces the exhibition “The Gardeners,” drawing inspiration from the poetry collection The Gardeners by poet Rabindranath Tagore.
The Gardeners Exhibition

The Gardeners – borrowed directly from Rabindranath Tagore's The Gardeners, the first Asian poet to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore's deeply poetic, philosophical, and life-affirming works have inspired the latest creations of young artists.

The quest for exploration, creativity, and artistic labor is often intimately connected with the labor process of gardeners, requiring patience, tranquility, and serene acceptance in harmony with the natural flow of nature and the universe. Because sometimes, the artist has not yet found what they seek in art, but rather, the artistic labor process leads them to creative values and successes they did not actively seek.

With an open-ended theme and unlimited materials, young artists have explored countless dimensions of space and time. These are everyday images in works such as “The Source” by Nhữ Đình Cương, “A Pulse of Memory” by Vũ Tuấn Việt, “People Swimming on the River” by Nguyễn Quốc Đạt, “Daily Life” by Vàng Hải Hưng… Viewers will also be impressed by the continuous transitions, the generational continuum taking shape in “Continuum” by Mạnh Trần, “Pour” by Nguyễn Đăng Tuấn. Or the contemplation of profound and somber metaphors like “Before, During, After and Forever” by Cao Thục, “Transmigration” by Nguyễn Phương Thảo, “Inside - Outside” by Nguyễn Hoàng Dung… all becoming captivating points for viewers.

The exhibition “The Gardeners” has opened up a playground, where each individual artist will contribute to expressing themselves, facing the simple daily realities and creative labor to find the good values in the seemingly simplest things.

“The stories of the young, still very young lives in contemporary Fine Arts, every moment now is evolving rapidly. It is truly a fortunate blessing bestowed upon their generation. Confidently stepping into the open space ahead when the mission has already begun, and the young have confidently, distinctly shown in each of their works.” – Artist Lương Xuân Đoàn, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association remarked.

The “Gardeners” exhibition is open to the public from April 1st, 2023, until May 2nd, 2023, at Vincom Center for Contemporary Arts (VCCA), B1-R3 Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, 72 Nguyễn Trãi, Thanh Xuân, Hanoi.
