(Homeland) - Organizing concurrently with LCK has led many viewers to suspect VCS organizers of using a deliberate tactic.
In the past, when still not under Riot's direct management, tournaments in smaller regions like VCS were always given broadcasting priority. When selling broadcasting rights for LCK, LPL, LCS, etc., Riot always insisted that the broadcasting channels should not overlap with the domestic tournaments in smaller regions. This was seen as Riot's move to help the League of Legends (LoL) scene in smaller regions reach the public more easily, especially professional tournaments.

However, since officially coming under Riot, this privilege for the VCS region is no longer in effect. LCK tournaments still take place normally on YouTube during the time slots of VCS matches. This inevitably leads to a situation where, whenever VCS matches clash with the 'marquee' matches in LCK (usually on weekends), the viewership for VCS tournaments noticeably drops.

For this reason, recent incidents during the VCS Twilight match between Team Flash - CERBERUS Esports, MGN Box Esports - Team Whales have raised suspicions among the audience. During the TF - CES match, there was a simultaneous match between T1 and KT Rolster in LCK Summer 2023. In terms of attraction, it's needless to say which match would garner more attention. Despite the VCS organizers announcing the issue, many viewers still believe it's essentially a 'tactic' to 'avoid' LCK.

In reality, these are just suspicions from VCS fans. Encountering issues before matches in organizing professional tournaments is entirely normal, and many matches in various tournaments have not been able to proceed as per the originally scheduled timetable. Therefore, some opinions suggest that it's simply a technical issue, and VCS viewers shouldn't read too much into it.

At the current moment, VCS Sunset 2023 has completed its opening week of competition. This tournament holds great significance, serving as a crucial stepping stone for players to secure a spot in the World Championship 2023. Moreover, it acts as a training ground for selected players gearing up for ASIAD. Undoubtedly, no one wants a dip in form, especially considering that ASIAD represents the nation's representation in the realm of League of Legends.
