With less than 24 hours to go, VCS Spring 2024 is gearing up to officially commence with numerous fresh promises.
Recently, VCS organizers revealed the lineup of commentators and MCs preparing to operate at VCS Spring 2024. All teams have already disclosed their rosters for the upcoming season. VCS Spring 2024 will bring many innovations, as teams have almost all experienced personnel changes compared to 2023. However, the team that might contend for the championship title continues to draw more attention. In reality, at the upcoming VCS Spring, GAM Esports will face considerable challenges in defending their throne.

Emerging New Faces
Vikings Esports will be a highly watched team in the new season as they feature faces that are both familiar and new. Players like SofM and Kati, Shogun, have all made a significant name and reputation in the Vietnamese LMHT scene. Particularly, SofM, the team owner, can provide valuable professional advice, as seen in his guidance to Team Whales at Worlds 2023. Kati, an exceptional Mid Laner, holds the most achievements in VCS to date.

Beyond VKE, CERBERUS Esports and MGN Box Esports also possess quality players. These teams could bring many surprises in the new season, with rosters combining youth and experience, featuring players like Froggy, Sty1e, Nugu (MBE), Pun, Hieu3, Ikkigai (CES). Although their lineups may include many unfamiliar names, this is precisely what might make them unpredictable factors in the new VCS season.
Former teams always pose a formidable challenge
Teams like Team Secret, Team Flash, and especially Team Whales have experienced a relatively calm transfer season, with minimal changes within the team. For these teams, the opportunity to overthrow GAM and compete for the title may have arrived. In particular, Team Whales, after a relatively accepted VCS Sunset 2023 and Worlds 2023, their players have been honed both in experience and resilience.

TW players have suffered two consecutive defeats against GAM in their most crucial matches in 2023. The 'Whales' are undoubtedly eager for revenge, and the upcoming Spring VCS is the best chance for them to realize their ambition to surpass GAM in the Vietnamese LoL scene.
GAM itself is weakening
GAM has changed 3/5 of their official positions, and all three departing players were VCS superstars in their roles. Except for Slayder, who isn't truly 'max ping,' and Palette, who has plans of his own, Kati is gradually perfecting himself to become an irreplaceable Mid Laner. The experience and resilience of Kati are undoubtedly challenging for the current Blazes to match.

GAM has also made investments for the future with Pyshiro, who is still very young and has shown promise in CES colors. But clearly, in a harsh environment like VCS or even further, in events like MSI or Worlds, GAM will still have to rely on Kiaya - Levi. And this duo doesn't always perform at 100%. At that point, GAM may truly be in jeopardy. But perhaps they have mentally prepared for a challenging journey ahead, especially when deciding to part ways with their star lineup.
Predicting anything before the matches unfold is a tough task. However, it's entirely plausible that VCS might witness a new champion. Especially if the teams maintain their form and give their utmost effort in their matches, particularly when facing the reigning champions, GAM.
