While the blockbuster Meng Hua Lu is still awaiting its debut, Liu Yifei has already embarked on the eagerly anticipated new project Where the Wind Blows. On April 8, Sohu shared some snapshots of Liu Yifei's arrival in Yunnan to join the film alongside Li Xian. In the photos, Liu Yifei... is seen at the market.
According to Sohu, Liu Yifei made an early morning appearance in what appeared to be workout attire. This may well be the first time Liu Yifei is not the ethereal fairy sister but instead exudes simplicity and naturalness to the fullest. In the opening scene of Where the Wind Blows, Liu Yifei goes to the market to buy vegetables and select poultry. The image of the most radiant Little Dragon Girl now going to the market and bargaining is certainly a rarity.
Sohu even captured the moment Liu Yifei exclaimed when picking poultry outside the market for the first time. The snapshot of her startled expression was incredibly amusing, after which the actress had to reshoot. Nevertheless, a beauty remains a beauty; Liu Yifei still looks like a fairy and is not at all 'diminished' in her slightly out-of-shape outfit.
Joining Where the Wind Blows, Liu Yifei portrays Hua Hong Dou - a city girl who retreats to the countryside to overcome grief after her dearest friend's sudden demise. Amidst the white clouds and green waters of Yunnan, Hong Dou feels as if she is 'healed,' and subsequently encounters Ta Chi Dao (Li Xian) - a sincere young man who also leaves behind a bustling city career to start a business in his hometown. The project is expected to depict the real-life story of the trends and work pressures faced by young people, and how they cope with life's challenges.
The film is scheduled to be released in 2023.
