(Homeland) - Viego continues to encounter critical issues, rendering him unable to participate in any League of Legends tournaments.
At the beginning of 2021, Viego was previously banned by Riot Games from all Spring Season tournaments. The reason being that Viego (then newly introduced) could cause numerous game-breaking bugs. After MSI 2021 concluded, Viego was allowed to return to the professional scene by Riot Games.

However, this champion has recently been once again banned by Riot Games from professional play. According to commentators and League of Legends experts, Viego will not be available for use until further notice from Riot. This is quite regrettable as the Ruined King has shown signs of resurgence recently.
The main reason for Viego's ban is his ability to prevent Aphelios from switching between weapon forms. This bug occurs when Viego possesses Aphelios using his passive. Upon resurrection, Aphelios is shown to possess up to 3 weapon forms. If all ammunition from these forms is depleted, Aphelios becomes unable to switch weapons or auto-attack.

Therefore, with the aforementioned bug, the Ruined King effectively nullifies Aphelios for the majority of the game. This is clearly a severe issue directly impacting the final outcome. Furthermore, the conditions to trigger this bug are relatively simple, making it easily exploitable. Perhaps Riot has yet to find a fix for this bug, hence the necessity to ban Viego.

Viewing positively, Viego's issue was detected quite early, thus preventing contentious matches. It would be unfortunate if a crucial match in the LCK or LPL Spring 2023 qualifiers were affected by this problem. Hopefully, Riot Games will swiftly rectify it so that Viego can soon have the opportunity to appear in League of Legends tournaments.
