As per the latest update from VnExpress, Vietnam will officially open its doors to international tourism starting from 15th March 2022. Additionally, policies regarding COVID-19 prevention are still awaiting updates.
On the evening of 15th March 2022, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh - Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism - announced: “Vietnam officially resumes tourism activities under new normal conditions”. After a prolonged period of dormancy due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the nation is enthusiastically embracing positive signals from domestic tourism and is ready to welcome international visitors. From today onwards, international travelers can enter Vietnam via sea, air, or land routes.

Vietnam reopens international tourism, and the entry regulations for fully vaccinated travelers are as follows:
- Travelers aged 12 and above must provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination; the final dose must be administered at least 14 days before the trip but not more than 6 months. If vaccinated more than 6 months ago, a booster shot is required before entering Vietnam.
Negative COVID-19 test results before departure: Travelers aged 2 and above must present negative RT-PCR / RT-LAMP test results taken within 72 hours before departure or negative rapid test results taken within 24 hours before departure.
For travelers who haven't completed full COVID-19 vaccination and have additional conditions such as pregnancy, under 12 years old, over 65 years old, or with underlying health conditions, they need to travel with a guardian.

Also on the same day, March 15, 2022, Vietnam announced the resumption of visa exemption with 13 countries, including: the UK and Northern Ireland, Norway, Finland, Belarus, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, South Korea, Russia, Japan, Sweden, and Denmark. Citizens from these 13 countries will be exempted from visas when entering Vietnam with a temporary stay of 15 days, regardless of passport type, purpose of entry.
This policy will be in effect from 15/03/2022 to 14/03/2025 and will be subject to review for extension. These are the countries that Vietnam has unilaterally exempted from visas since the end of 2019. In addition, the issuance of tourist visas for international tourists will also be implemented as before the pandemic, including electronic visas, unilateral visa exemptions, unilateral visas, etc.

Vietnam's opening of international tourism in 2022 opens up the opportunity for the 'reunion' of multinational groups of friends or the 'realization' of the homecoming day for distant children.
