After reviewing the website of the US Department of State, it's evident that they have been utilizing the Next Generation Passport (NGP) since 2021. This type of passport shares many similarities when compared to our Vietnam's chip-embedded purple and green passport cover.
What is the Next Generation Passport - NGP?
This is the NGP personal page of the United States, initiated since 2021:
The NGP passport code contains the following information: Passport type (1) - Name (2) - Passport number (3) - Nationality (4) - Date of birth (5) - Gender (6) - Passport expiration date (7). Vietnamese passports also have the last digit as the ID number.
Here are the personal information sections printed on the new 2023 chip-embedded passport of Vietnam.
