The 8th Cultural Heritage Day event - 'Back to the Roots Day' on November 23, 2012, will take place from November 21st to 24th, 2012, at the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts (2 Hoa Lu, Hanoi). With the theme: “Exploring the Red River Civilization” towards the 2013 National Tourism Year in the Red River Delta - Hai Phong, the 2012 Cultural Heritage Day is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Education and Training, with the participation of 5 provinces and cities in the Red River Delta including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh.

At the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts, there will be exhibitions exploring the Red River Civilization, including: Exhibition on “Red River Civilization from Dong Son period to Dai Viet period”; Vietnamese folk painting exhibition with typical genres such as Hang Trong painting, Dong Ho painting, Kim Hoang painting and Vu Di worship painting (Vinh Phuc); Exhibition of kites from the Red River Delta. In addition, the organizers will allocate a separate exhibition area for each province to introduce famous historical sites, landscapes, typical cultural, tourism, culinary products; introduce intangible cultural heritages of their locality; exhibition area of crafts and fine arts of the Red River Delta provinces…
Within the framework of this year's Cultural Heritage Days, there will be a seminar on “Promoting Folk Cultural Heritage - Current Situation and Development Needs”, a ceremony to honor veteran soldiers who participated in the “Dien Bien Phu in the Air in 1972” battle, a program “Youth with Cultural Heritage of the Red River Delta and Back to the Roots Day on November 23”, along with many outstanding traditional cultural and artistic programs of the Red River Delta region.
Also on the occasion of celebrating Vietnam's Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), the management board of Hanoi Old Quarter will organize many cultural activities at various locations such as: Kim Ngan Communal House (42 – 44 Hang Bac), Dong Lac Communal House (38 Hang Dao), Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage Information Center (28 Hang Buom), Ta Hien street section.
At Kim Ngan Communal House, there will be introductions to the art of tea blending and Vietnamese tea appreciation, performances of quan ho folk songs by the Kinh Bac folk singing club. At Dong Lac Communal House, there will be introductions to the living space, daily life and cultural space of ancient Hanoians. At the Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage Information Center, there will be introductions to the project of renovating, conserving the facades of shops specializing in traditional Southeast Asian medicine in Lan Ong Street. This project is part of the plan to conserve and enhance the architectural value in the Old Quarter; contributing to promoting commerce and tourism for the Old Quarter streets.
Simultaneously, the Management Board of Hanoi Old Quarter collaborates with the Vietnam Television Film Production Center to introduce the filming space of the movie 'City Lights' carried out at Ta Hien street to recreate the living space of Hanoians during the French colonial period from 1930 to 1945.
