(Motherland) - The list of 9 Esports disciplines for the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia in May 2023 has been officially announced by the host country Cambodia. Notably, Vietnam's strengths, Arena of Valor and League of Legends, are missing.
Recently, on September 7th, the Esports Federation of Cambodia (EFC) officially announced the Esports events for SEA Games 32. There will be a total of 9 events competing for medals in 5 Esports disciplines at the SEA Games held in 2023.
Accordingly, the 9 Esports disciplines at SEA Games 32 are as follows:
1. AK2 (Attack Online 2) - Individual.
2. AK2 (Attack Online 2) - Team.
3. PUBG Mobile - Solo.
4. PUBG Mobile - Duo.
5. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang - Male Duo.
6. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang - Female Duo.
7. LOL: Speed War - Male Duo.
8. LOL: Speed War - Female Duo.
9. CrossFire (PC).
Notable is the absence of Vietnam's Esports powerhouses such as League of Legends (LMHT), FIFA Online 4, and Arena of Valor. The gold medal in LMHT at the recent SEA Games 31 underscores the significant skill gap between Vietnam and the rest in this discipline. Meanwhile, Arena of Valor is seen as a neck-and-neck competition between Vietnam and Thailand, outclassing Esports teams from other countries.
A notable point is the introduction of the new discipline, AK2 (Attack Online 2), which Cambodia will bring to the next SEA Games.
Following the dazzling success at the Southeast Asian SEA Games 31, VIRESA provided comprehensive support to assist the Esports Federation of Cambodia in organizing Esports at SEA Games 32.
On May 23, 2022, the comprehensive support agreement between VIRESA and EFC was signed. According to the agreement, VIRESA will provide full support, share experience, and provide encouragement for EFC to successfully organize Esports at SEA Games 32.
SEA Games 32 is scheduled to take place from May 05, 2023, to May 16, 2023, in Cambodia with 11 participating countries. Esports is one of the 39 sports selected to compete for medals. This is also the third consecutive time that Esports has become an official competition at this event.
