Despite a loss to the Taiwan team in the ASIAD 2023 semifinals in Hangzhou, China, it didn't dampen Vietnam's spirits. On the contrary, the Vietnamese players seemed to shed the pressure and entered the Bronze Medal match with a more relaxed mindset. And in fact, thanks to this psychological state, the Vietnamese players surprised the home team by unexpectedly dominating the first match.

With experience and battlefield expertise garnered from years in the LPL, coach SofM understands the path and playstyle as well as the tactics of the Chinese players quite well. In the first match, Vietnam confidently entered with a control-rich lineup consisting of Sejuani, Braums, Ashe, and strong laning champions like Renekton and Jayce. This effectively addressed and exploited the weaknesses in China's skirmishing and movement.

However, in the second match, representatives from the LPL quickly rallied with a powerful overall skirmish lineup and too many advantages in the early game. Vietnam was leveled by China after over 25 minutes of play with a difference of over 10k gold and had to enter the decisive third match.

The third match started quite slowly, with advantages evenly distributed between both sides. The Vietnamese team had an early opportunity when they boldly engaged in skirmishes during the mid-game phase, securing the Baron buff early on. However, that advantage proved insufficient as the tide turned when Chinese players capitalized on their advantage, executing beautiful skirmishes in the jungle area, wiping out the Vietnamese team.
After losing the Baron buff entirely, our players gradually revealed weaknesses in their movement, continuously getting caught out in the dragon and Baron areas. In the end, they bitterly watched as China swept through each member, securing the Silver Medal at ASIAD 2023.

Despite failing to bring home an international medal, overall, the Vietnamese League of Legends team performed admirably. The setback at ASIAD 2023 also highlighted errors in coordination and tactics, allowing these young players to approach the upcoming World Championships with more confidence.
