The History of the Establishment of Vietnam's Physicians Day
From the early days of the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the healthcare sector has continually grown and developed. Despite the focus on resources for the resistance war during this period, the healthcare sector consistently operated on both the front lines and in the rear, ensuring the well-being of both soldiers and civilians. Together, the nation overcame difficulties and hardships, making significant contributions to the country and the global medical field. The Vietnamese healthcare sector was honored by President Ho Chi Minh in 1955, who wrote a letter to the Healthcare Congress, designating the 27th of February as Vietnam's Physicians Day.
Since then, the healthcare sector has continuously integrated and developed alongside the nation's growth. Recently, Vietnam and the global community experienced challenging times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is during these times that we once again appreciate the noble mission of doctors and the compassionate spirit of the Vietnamese people.
