According to writer Nguyen Quang Vinh, the position of Vietnam's Tourism Ambassador is not meant to be a competition, so it shouldn't be debated much.
- How do you feel about the news that actors Sun Wukong - Luc Tieu Linh Dong want to become Vietnam's Tourism Ambassador in China?
Anyone with goodwill towards Vietnam, promoting the country is all good. For Luc Tieu Linh Dong, he has 2 strengths if he holds this position. Firstly, he has a movie that many generations of Vietnamese people love. Secondly, he has been invited to Vietnam by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism twice for exchange and cultural activities.
It may also be because of this that Luc Tieu Linh Dong feels touched and proposes to become Vietnam's Tourism Ambassador in China.
In my opinion, it's just the inspiration of an artist, so we shouldn't have high expectations like if Luc Tieu Linh Dong becomes Vietnam's Tourism Ambassador, Vietnam's tourism will develop better in China.
On some personal emotional level, I don't have much impression about this event. Honestly, I don't care much!

- How do you think the public would react to a foreigner serving as the Ambassador of Tourism for Vietnam?
If there's opposition, that's a bit extreme. In my opinion, if China has Lục Tiểu Linh Đồng, or Japan or France has some actress representing Vietnamese tourism, it's also good. But the point is to choose the Ambassador of Tourism seriously and carefully, not just because someone is happy so we hastily shake hands.
And suddenly, when everything is calm and fine, the Ministry of Culture immediately invited Lục Tiểu Linh Đồng to attend the recent international tourism fair, it seems to the public like it's already set up as if it's a given. This isn't good, everything should take its time.
- If the intentions of the actress Lục Tiểu Linh Đồng become reality, do you think the level of success can surpass that of former Vietnamese Tourism Ambassador Lý Nhã Kỳ?
I don't think success because that's just talk, people only seize the opportunity of some festival or event to say a few things about themselves. They don't have the strength to devote all their mind, effort, and energy to find every way to promote their country. This has to be said truthfully.
It's not because of Ly Nha Ky that tourism increases or decreases. People come to Vietnam not just because of Nha Ky but for many other reasons. No matter how talented Ly Nha Ky is, it doesn't attract tourists to Vietnam.
I don't oppose the Ambassador issue, if it happens, it's good, but there should be some conduct, with this title, behave culturally and gently, don't argue about it forever, because it's not a contest.
'Vietnam has invested quite a lot in the image of tourism ambassadors, but according to recent statistics, the number of people revisiting Vietnam is decreasing. Do you see this as a paradox?'
This can be analyzed in many aspects, but it has a few factors:
First is the living environment. Tourists may visit a beautiful pagoda but if the living environment around it is not pleasant, they won't want to come back.
Second is the depth behind that monument, that cultural point is not sustainable enough for tourists to stay longer. When going abroad, behind tourist areas are goods, streets, lifestyles... everything attracts people to come back to enjoy. In Vietnam, there's only water puppetry, so should every visit to Vietnam include watching water puppetry?
