The Vietnamese actor extends his sincerest thanks to his benefactor, lifelong friend Steven Spielberg, upon winning the Golden Globe.
The morning of January 11 brought joy and pride to Vietnamese audiences as, for the first time ever, a Vietnamese name was called at the Golden Globe Awards. Quan Ke Huy secured a spectacular victory, surpassing even Brad Pitt in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category for film with Everything Everywhere All at Once.
After four decades filled with ups and downs, seemingly giving up hope, Quan Ke Huy once again receives a chance to return to Hollywood, and the actor does not disappoint.

Child star's life transformed thanks to Steven Spielberg
Quan Ke Huy is a son of Vietnam, born in 1971 into a Chinese-origin family in Ho Chi Minh City. At the age of 8, his family moved to the United States, marking the beginning of his much-anticipated acting career.

Feeling that his days on screen were numbered, Quan Ke Huy made the bold decision to step away from acting in 2002 and transition behind the scenes. He delved into martial arts direction and set design, quietly nurturing his passion. Through this work, he crossed paths with idol Vương Gia Vệ, eventually becoming part of Jet Tone - director Vương's company - when venturing into Hollywood.

Historic Triumph at the Golden Globes and a Bright Future Ahead
Desk work and backstage endeavors filled Quan Ke Huy's days, but deep down, acting remained his greatest desire. Then, in 2021, a call from A24 changed his life forever. Quan Ke Huy landed a supporting role in the 'multiverse' project Everything Everywhere All at Once. Initially slated to act alongside Jackie Chan, Dương Tử Quỳnh eventually took the lead. Many speculate that had Chan been cast, Ke Huy's role would have been different or perhaps nonexistent.
In Everything Everywhere All at Once, Quan Ke Huy portrays Waymond - Evelyn's (Dương Tử Quỳnh) husband. In the main universe, Waymond is gentle and clumsy, but in alternate universes, he's cool and intriguing. His action scenes, wielding a cross-body bag as a weapon, garnered praise from both audiences and industry experts.

Thanks to his impressive acting and martial arts prowess, Quan Ke Huy made history at the 80th Golden Globes, winning Best Supporting Actor. Tears flowed as he accepted the award, expressing gratitude to his earliest mentor - Steven Spielberg, and his latest benefactors - A24 and the extended family of Everything Everywhere All at Once.

2022 undoubtedly marked Quan Ke Huy's happiest and most fulfilling year. He starred in a blockbuster alongside Dương Tử Quỳnh, reunited with Harrison Ford, clinched a prestigious Golden Globe, and is set to feature in a Marvel film. At Disney's project unveiling event in Singapore, Quan Ke Huy's name graced the big screen, announced as part of season 2 of the Loki series alongside lead actor Tom Hiddleston.

At the age of 51, Quan Kế Huy couldn't hold back his tears as opportunities reopened for him and for Asian actors in Hollywood. The actor shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, 'Opportunities for Asian actors in Hollywood were scarce back then, so I chose to work behind the scenes to sustain my passion. So now, I'm thrilled to see Hollywood changing, and Asian actors shining brightly.' Surely, at this moment, Hollywood has no reason to overlook Quan Kế Huy anymore!
