Can you guess which part it is?
Growth and development are fundamental biological traits of living organisms, including humans. In the human body, the development of organs and parts occurs continuously until reaching adulthood, then it halts. Nevertheless, there are still two parts on the human face persistently developing until death. Can you guess what those parts are?
This is an intriguing riddle featured in an episode of the show Quick as Lightning. The specific content of the riddle is as follows:
'On the human face, which part keeps developing without ceasing?'.

Despite receiving hints from the host, the players still couldn't come up with the correct answer. This is an exceptionally challenging riddle, requiring a profound understanding of Biology to guess correctly. Not only the players but also the audience in the studio were stumped by this riddle.
The program announced the answer as: EARS, NOSE.
While most body parts begin to develop slowly and gradually cease growing (mostly after puberty ends), ears and nose continue to increase in size. This makes ears and nose significantly different from the rest of the body.
The continued growth of ears and nose is explained by the composition of soft tissues surrounding the cartilage that forms these two parts. These soft tissues continue to develop throughout a person's life. Therefore, in older individuals, we may notice a relatively large proportion of ear and nose size compared to the face.

Many may wonder why hair and fingernails are not considered parts capable of continuous growth throughout a person's life like ears and nose. Experts believe the reason stems from genetic factors and differences among individuals.
The most obvious example is seen in individuals experiencing genetic baldness. Their hair cannot continue to grow as they age. Hence, ears and nose are considered the most visibly developing parts throughout a person's life.
For those who don't know:
Nose: Anatomically, the nose is a protrusion on vertebrates containing the nostrils, which allow air to enter and exit through the nasal passages connected to the mouth. Behind the nose are the olfactory organ and sinuses. Beyond the nasal cavity, air continues to the pharynx. In humans, the nose is located in the middle of the face.
Ears: The ears are sensory organs for detecting sound. Ears not only function as organs for receiving sound but also play a major role in the sense of balance and body posture. The ear is part of the auditory organ.
