Self-driving car tours through the Mong Cai border are set to kick off from October 30th, allowing Vietnamese travelers to journey to Nanning, China.
Vietnamese tourists can now embark on a 600km self-driving adventure to China
This initiative is part of the joint plan to boost tourism between the two nations, proposed by the authorities of Mong Cai and Dong Hung, China, scheduled for implementation starting March of this year, according to the People's Committee of Mong Cai.

Specific details about the number of vehicles and deployment methods are not available at the moment. However, it is anticipated that Chinese travelers can self-drive to Halong City (150 km from Mong Cai), while Vietnamese visitors can enter Nanning, which is 600 km from Mong Cai.
In 2016, self-driving cars from China to Quang Ninh were experimented with limited activities in the city of Mong Cai. A minimum of 5 cars and a maximum of 20 cars per group were allowed for entry. The total number of self-driving Chinese cars in Vietnam should not exceed 100 per day, with permits granted no more than once every 3 days.

After a year of implementation, 93 vehicles carrying 256 Chinese tourists have crossed through Mong Cai. Conversely, 38 vehicles with 110 Vietnamese travelers have journeyed to Dong Hung.
