On a damp spring evening with light rain, we decided to change things up and visit a tea and fruit-infused drinks spot instead of our usual coffee haunt.
While not yet claiming the top spot, Villa Des Fleurs consistently scores well across the board. From ambiance to service, you'll be hard-pressed not to enjoy your time here.
Location
Although not yet a seasoned veteran, Villa Des Fleurs has been a longstanding establishment in Hanoi, maintaining its style and location unchanged for quite some time. You can easily spot the spacious facade nestled under lush greenery at 42 Tran Phu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.

A charming little table awaits right by the entrance to Villa Des Fleurs.
If you're coming from Dien Bien Phu, Villa Des Fleurs is just a stone's throw away from the start of the street. If you're coming from Hoang Dieu and turn onto Tran Phu, the cafe will be on your right-hand side.
With its low population density, abundant greenery, and spacious sidewalks, the first distinctive feature of Villa Des Fleurs is its refreshing and gentle atmosphere. The kind and attentive security guard greets guests warmly, assisting with parking and leaving a positive impression upon arrival.
Additionally, the cafe is located near several foreign diplomatic offices such as the Customs Department, the Singapore Embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Chinese Embassy. Therefore, it can be said that the security in this area is excellent, creating a significantly tranquil and pleasant environment compared to other bustling streets.
Ambiance
Overall Impression
Situated within a villa constructed in a classical architectural style, yet Villa Des Fleurs doesn't come off as outdated or antiquated. The establishment exudes harmony and sophistication, blending classical elements with its own modern touches.
Beyond beverages, Villa Des Fleurs also offers a flower service for gifts or decorations. An adjacent small house is dedicated to fulfilling guests' floral needs and desires.
The indoor space is rather modest, with only enough room for a counter and 2-3 tables along the walls. Additionally, the courtyard isn't overly spacious, accommodating just enough for a small table (for groups of 3-4 people) and three small round tables suitable for couples.

A corner of the courtyard boasts numerous trees and several tables for small groups.
The courtyard is adorned with lush greenery. Particularly, the corner near the entrance features a specially designed long table, with a large wall meticulously decorated like a natural curtain made from flowers and plants.
While the ground floor may lack spaciousness for guests, the second floor presents a distinct and clearly impressive difference.
The entire second floor is utilized as an outdoor space, with numerous high, spacious tables adorned with lights and flowers, creating a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere.
In the refreshing and invigorating mornings, and the romantically lit evenings with a slight rooftop ambiance (although not very high). Hence, it's not surprising that regular guests often head straight to the second floor when visiting Villa Des Fleurs.

Spacious view on the second floor.
However, this can be a downside during hot summer days or rainy days, or extremely cold days in winter. If you intend to visit Villa, pay more attention to the weather forecast.
Decor & Interior
With white as the dominant tone, the atmosphere at Villa Des Fleurs exudes elegance and lightness. It may seem simple, but it's far from boring, as the decor with flowers and plants is the highlight that sets it apart.
The ground floor area boasts white walls adorned with various hanging accessories and wall-mounted items, complemented by warm yellow lighting to create a cozy atmosphere. You can admire a collection of cups, plates, vases, and plant pots.
Most of the tables, both indoors, outdoors, and on the second floor, are adorned with succulents, cacti, or other types of plants. This helps to reduce the emptiness of the tabletops, enhancing the inspiration for work according to each person's preference.
Furthermore, Villa Des Fleurs also understands the psychology of a large portion of its customers by decorating some fancy and picturesque check-in spots.
Near the entrance to the ground floor, a water-drop-shaped seat is adorned with a display of flowers and string lights. In the middle area of the second floor, a salon chair is placed, accompanied by a large flower column and prominent lighting in a corner.
Service Quality
Beverages
A distinctive feature of Villa Des Fleurs is its variety of teas, from single cups to large sets accompanied by light snacks such as pastries. The cafe also offers a selection of snacks, fast food, or breakfast items.
Prices range from 60,000đ per cup to 100,000-120,000đ per set for premium teas, and even a few hundred thousand đồng for sets suitable for groups of 3-4 people or more. For customers looking for quick bites, dishes like beef/chicken/french fries range from 40,000-100,000đ per dish.

Coffee isn't the highlight at Villa Des Fleurs. The menu only includes black coffee, white coffee, and 'silver cloud' coffee. The cafe has also recently added Latte and Cappuccino, not sure when, but it's a small difference from before.
TopListCafe has decided to go for 2 tropical tea options, not as part of a set.
The taste of tea at Villa Des Fleurs is more natural and distinct compared to the average. The fruit ingredients used in the blend are fresh and delicious, showing no signs of staleness.
I'm quite sensitive to overly sweetened teas, a common issue in many cafes. Villa Des Fleurs seems to understand this common flaw, as they brew 2 cups of tea that are quite balanced and drink very smoothly.
However, to say this is an excellent cup of tea is a bit forced, especially at the price of 60,000 dong – even though the beautiful space and view can somewhat compensate. Next time, I'll order a set to further appreciate the skills of the establishment.
Music & Wi-Fi
With a moderate size and spread, Villa Des Fleurs doesn't need to invest much in a speaker system. The playlist here consists of instrumental music, bringing a soothing and relaxing atmosphere.
Although the indoor space is somewhat narrow, the sound volume is just right, not echoing or uncomfortable. You can fully focus on studying or working without distraction.
The Wi-Fi is divided into 2 separate access points for each floor, with fast and stable signals.
Service
On that evening, there was only 1 bartender and 1 waiter attending to the entire cafe. Despite a steady but not crowded stream of customers, the two of them ensured relatively quick service.
The barista is friendly and very gentle with customers, still cheerful when encountering a family with 2 playful children running around.
The female staff member is polite and gentle, although her expression may seem a bit cold, possibly due to working the night shift. However, everything is understandable, and there's no reason for complaint.
Villa Des Fleurs is a worthy destination for a relaxing evening amidst Hanoi's cool weather. The tranquility and serenity here are perfect for light conversations, work, or reading.
Don't forget the rich and diverse selection of teas at Villa Des Fleurs. This is definitely the optimal choice if you want to avoid drinking coffee that might disrupt your sleep at night.
